Abstract Five selected Nd 2 O 3 doped phosphate glass compositions are synthesized using melt quench technique. The physical properties such as density (ρ) and molar volume (V m ) experimentally measured. increases whereas decreases with addition of content. radiation sensing for these rare earth (RE) element samples have been investigated. photon attenuation parameters mass coefficient (μ ), linear L optimum thickness range ( x opt effective atomic number (Z eff mean free path (mfp) values computed over wide gamma-ray energy 1keV -100 GeV within framework WinXCom software tool. glasses vary significantly on account neodymium oxide content energy. found to decrease while the rise concentration does.
